Dhiren Patel

- PharmD, CDE, BC-ADM, BCACP

Dhiren Patel, PharmD, CDE, BC-ADM, BCACP, serves as a faculty member at the Alpert Medical School of Brown University and at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy (MCP) in Boston, MA. He also maintains a clinical practice site at the Boston VA where he functions as a mid-level provider for a variety of chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia, and obesity. He earned his PharmD from MCP – Boston and received his postdoctoral residency training at the VA Boston Healthcare System. He is also board certified as an ambulatory care pharmacist (BCACP), diabetes educator (CDE), and in advanced diabetes management (BC-ADM).

Dr. Patel is one of the co-authors for the Diabetes and Obesity chapters in the Koda-Kimble and Young’s Applied Therapeutics textbook. This was the first clinical pharmacy textbook to be based on patient case histories. It is now in its 11th edition, has been translated into many languages, and is widely used in the United States and internationally. Dr. Patel has also been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and delivered numerous presentations and lectures on diabetes.

He was inducted into the Rho Chi Pharmacy Honor Society, which is the highest honor the profession of pharmacy can bestow on select individuals based on their academic excellence. In 2008, he received the Novo Nordisk Pharmacist Focused on Diabetes Award. He also serves on the Advisory Board for Sanofi, Novo Nordisk, and Astra Zeneca. He has served as a diabetes consultant to a variety of other clients that include, but not limited to the federal government, Fortune 500 firms, and healthcare technology startup companies.
